The brief

This is the design for a commission for a birth announcement card of a beautiful baby boy. Before beginning the design of this card, I met up with the clients to discuss their wishes and vision for this card. They were very interested in a jungle-themed card which depicts a variety of animals, as a remembrance of their honeymoon in the jungle. We talked about references and themes, art style, and colours. By asking specific questions my understanding of their taste and vision increased. We also made sure we are on the same page with the terms used like ‘spacious’ ‘colourful’ and ‘playful’, a very important step in understanding their expectations. After creating a mood board, I sent several iterations, met up once more to discuss the progress and finalized the painting. These iterations you can see below. The font, and font colour were picked by the clients themselves.
